ROLE OF ULTRASONOGRAPHY-GUIDED FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION CYTOLOGY IN HEPATIC LESIONS: A PROSPECTIVE AND OBSERVATIONAL STUDY AT A TERTIARY HEALTH-CARE CENTRE IN CENTRAL INDIA

Objectives: The liver is a common site for primary as well secondary malignancies. Ultrasonography (USG)-guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) rapid, accurate, economical, and safe diagnostic procedure various hepatic lesions. aims of the study were to categorize cytomorphological features lesions, age sex distribution analyzing cytological evaluate sensitivity, specificity, accuracy USG-guided FNAC in diagnosing Methods: A prospective observational 64 patients with clinically radiologically diagnosed lesions referred department pathology tertiary care hospital. was performed each patient analyzed. Results: In our study, out total liver, metastasis most – 33 cases (51.56%), followed by hepatocellular carcinoma 18 (28.12%), abscess 6 (9.37%), 7 (10.93%) unsatisfactory smears. Conclusion: FNAC, expert hands being simple, safe, quick, reliable, cost-effective, efficient, easily available OPD-based less number complications, it has very important role accurate diagnosis carcinoma, malignant tumors inflammatory liver.
